My Story
Rebecca Bevin Thomas was born May 10, 1932 in Linden, Alabama to the proud parents of Benjamin Franklin Thomas and Lola Belle Dupree-Thomas. She was the eldest of five children Minnie Thomas-Payne, Benjamin Thomas Jr., Arthur Thomas and Aisha (Ruth Thomas -Ward) Rahim. At the age of four her parents joined Adams Street A.O.H. Church of God under the late Elder Drayton and the late Bishop W.T. Phillips in Mobile, Alabama. In 1945 Rebecca, along with her parents and siblings relocated to Richmond, California. There her mother, Lola Belle Thomas, became Pastor of one of the first churches of the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God in Northern California. Rebecca graduated from Richmond High School of Richmond, California and while there she was a part of the Traffic Club.

While Rebecca began learning how to effectively serve in the Ministry, alongside her mother, she was filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 15, as on the day of Pentecost. As Rebecca became passionate about ministry, her mother heard the voice of the Lord in 1953 saying, “It's time to come home”; Lola Belle was called to her Heavenly home. The transition of her mother was devastating and caused Rebecca to leave the church, even though her heart was still towards God and the things of God. In the winter of 1963, she answered a request from a neighbor for help. The help she offered was Jesus, she then told her neighbor she would use that same help for herself. At the same time, Bishop G.W. Ayers went and found her and brought her back to the church with her three children and one on the way (Doretha). She was baptized and refilled with the Holy Ghost, and began running for Jesus, never looking back. Rebecca moved her young family down to Southern California in the Fall of 1964 and began attending Tabernacle of Holiness Apostolic Church under the late Bishop John E. Sherriff where she remained faithful for many years. After coming back to God she began to seek the lord with all her heart. Rebecca was then called to the ministry shortly after that, giving God her “Complete Yes” on Thursday, March 17th 1966.
